We want to let you know that the Transitional Kindergarten Experience scheduled for Wednesday, August 20th, has been CANCELLED. At this time, our school is serving an important role as a base camp for the Department of Natural Resources while they work to keep our community safe from wildfires.
In moments like these, Nine Mile comes together to support one another, and we are glad our school can help. While we were very excited to welcome our TK students on the 20th, we feel it is best not to hold this event so that our youngest learners can experience school in a calm and focused way.
The good news is that you and your child will still have a chance to visit the school very soon! Our Open House will be held on Thursday, August 21st, from 5:30–7:00 p.m. This will be a wonderful time to see the classroom, explore the school, and meet the teacher together.
Thank you for your understanding and support. We are so excited to welcome your child to Nine Mile Elementary and can’t wait to begin this school journey with you.

As many of you have seen, the Department of Natural Resources has set up its fire ground at Nine Mile Falls Elementary as they continue their critical work protecting our region from wildfire. We are grateful for their dedication and proud to play a small part in supporting their efforts.
We want to assure our families, school will begin on August 27th as planned. Our staff is already working closely with DNR to make sure our campus is fully ready to welcome students on the first day of school.
To our emergency crews working around the clock — thank you for your service and bravery. And to our families, thank you for trusting us. At Nine Mile, we take care of our kids first, while also serving the greater community we love.
As we prepare for the first day of school on August 27th, please be assured that our number one priority remains the safety and well-being of our students. We are working closely with DNR to ensure the campus is ready for our kids to walk through the doors on opening day.
This is Nine Mile at its best — neighbors helping neighbors, coming together in times of need. Our school grounds are more than just a place for learning; they’re a place where community spirit shines brightest.

Our TK Experience is August 20th from 10-11am. Parents will meet the teacher on the blacktop. Students will come in as they will on a normal day and go into the classroom. They will get to know the classroom and different areas of the school. At 10:45 they will have the chance to take a short bus ride. If you don't want your student on the bus, you can meet the class out front of the school at 10:45, otherwise plan on picking them up out front at 11am.
Parents will be asked not to follow students at this time; we are trying to make them feel more comfortable in the school setting; but don't worry during open house you will have time to visit the classroom and teacher. Parents will be welcome to come in the building and sit in the lunchroom and enjoy refreshments and get to know other parents during this time.
Please join our PTG for the 25/26 school-year kick off meeting on July 30th at 5:30 PM. We will be meeting at Fieldhouse Pizza on Wellesley.
Fun Fact: Our PTG funded over $7,500 dollars in school supplies, significantly reducing the number of supplies that families need to provide!
