Classroom Lessons
Second Step is a classroom-based curriculum for Kindergarten through Grade 5 that supports skills for learning and social/emotional development. The program helps children learn social-emotional skills such as responsible decision-making, working together to solve problems, managing strong emotions, and getting along with others. These skills can help children succeed both academically and socially. Miss Kendall uses this curriculum to deliver classroom lessons across K-5 grade levels along with others.
Second Step programs combine discussions with fun activities and family resources.

Kelso's Choice is a conflict management curriculum used throughout Nine Mile Falls Elementary to encourage students to use positive strategies to solve problems. Kelso the Frog provides a wheel of choices that students can choose from when they come across a small problem. At Nine Mile Falls Elementary, we teach students about the difference between small problems (those that we can work to solve on our own) and big problems (those that are dangerous or threatening to any student) to encourage positive problem-solving skills.
