Nine Mile Falls Elementary has created a club to teach students how to grow, care for, and harvest a garden. We have a school garden and a greenhouse that students take turns weeding, prepping, planting, watering, and harvesting. Each class takes turns caring for the garden during school hours as part of their science class. In the fall, we have a plant sale, and the profits go toward supporting the Garden Club throughout the year. This approach provides a fun and creative way to teach students how to grow their own food and engage in scientific inquiry to examine why some plants may not have grown as successfully.
